Sometimes, as parents, we may feel helpless when our babies are in distress and we do not know what to do about it. So along the way, I experimented with approaches to relieve my babies of there distress. So I decided to share a few to help out all the new parents.
With my two girls, I developed a few techniques to use when they are gassy. There are a few symptoms that will alert you that your baby may have gas: abdominal bloating, hard belly, frequent burping, hiccups, spit ups and/or restlessness and fussiness.
If your child is displaying any of these symptoms try a few of these tips to see if it helps relieve your baby of gas.
• While sitting on a chair, couch or bed, lay baby on your lap in the tummy time position. The pressure of their stomach on your thighs forces the gas out.
• Speaking of tummy time, this helps release gas too!
• Try a mixture of juice (apple or prune) with water.
• Burp the baby as often as they eat.
• Lay baby on back and move their legs as if they are riding a bike. This helps to release gas.
• Rub baby's stomach. The pressure on the stomach area altogether helps alleviate gas.
These tips have always helped me when my babies have gas. I hope they are useful to you as well!
