The Makeup Show Chicago was June 9-1oth at the Bridgeport Art Center. It was the first time that the Makeup Show ever came to Chicago! I hope they decide to put us on the schedule for next year. It was not as big as I expected, but it was just big enough. It is only open to professionals who work in the beauty industry. The Seminars and Keynotes were so informative and encouraging. I wish I was going back for the second day JUST to sit in on the classes. I really enjoyed getting insight from people that are BIG time in the industry. I learned so much.
For those who don’t know, I am in the makeup artistry field now! I decided to become a makeup artist for a number of reasons: 1) My love for makeup; 2) The amount of people I had inquiring about me doing their makeup or teaching them certain things 3) makeup artist I know that were amazed by my improvement and self taught skill and 4) after I had done my makeup for my wedding, I felt confident that I could do others faces. Let's get back to The Makeup Show. I got there at 8am. It started at 9 and when I got there it was already a line! While standing in line, I met AJ Crimson and a few other makeup artists from around the United States. Once the doors finally opened, and we went through registration and went upstairs, the atmosphere was SO much to take in! In a good way tho! I had printed out the floor plan and highlighted the vendors I wanted to stop by, but hunny when I saw everything that paper went right back in my purse! It was early so not many people were there, so you could right right up to the vendors and see what they had to offer. That's exactly how I met Eve Pearl. I walked around the floor to see what they had to offer (keeping in mind the 1st seminar was at 10am). So the 1st thing that was my list, I got that (gotta stay prioritized). Then sat in on one of the seminars. When that was over, it was so PACKED where the vendors were set up, you couldn’t even walk! IDK who put together the floor plan, but having Inglot (got some goodies from there) and OCC right across from each other was a bad idea! That little area was so packed that you could not walk thru! Even as tiny as I am I could not squeeze through the crowd.
Crown Brush was there. I’ve heard a lot of good things about Crown, but didn’t personally own anything from them until yesterday. When I first got there (at 9am), there was no line. They probably had the biggest event area and you could just walk up and see everything. By the time I got out of the 1st seminar around 11:30 or so, it was so packed you couldn’t even see the tables! It was crazy! Crown Brush was on my list, so I went and stood in what I thought was a line. That line didn’t MOVE! People were not budging!! So I got out of line & squeezed in front of one of the tables, and snatched up what I saw I wanted and met new friends while doing it lol.
So I hit up: Graftobian, Inglot, Eve Pearl (met her, LOVE her), Friend’s Beauty, Auraline (amazing eye shadows, EXTREMELY pigmented), Crown Brush, Z Palette and Nigel’s. I got sooooo many things that I can’t name everything lbs.
I also met Danessa Myricks!!! I was star struck lol (semi groupie)! When I first decided, I wanted to do makeup (my own), my manager gave me some videos by Danessa. BTW if you don’t know who she is google her. So learned what I know from her!! Being able to have that one on one time & talk to her & let her know how her videos taught me inspired both of us! She is such a sweetheart!
Overall the Makeup Show Chicago was AMAZING!! I had so much fun, learned so much, and networked! I feel like I’m rambling because there is so much I want to tell, but I will end it here and answer any questions you guys may have. If there are any questions, comments or if you were there comment below!
